Use of the personal information provided

The personal information collected by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (Ministère) in this form is necessary for the examination of your application for temporary selection for studies and for the application of the Québec Immigration Act, the Québec Immigration Regulation, the Regulation respecting immigration consultants and related administrative rules.

When authorized by law, we may use your personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected. We may, in particular, use it for the purposes of studies, research, statistical production or to evaluate our programs and the quality of our services. Protection of personal information

The information provided will be treated confidentially. It will only be consulted by persons employed by the Ministère who are authorized to receive it, when necessary, for the purposes of performing their duties.

Note that some risks, rules, guarantees and rights are associated with the treatment of personal information and we make every effort to ensure the protection of that information.

Communication of personal information

The following personal information, provided in the application, as well as the accompanying documents, may be communicated to a public body of Québec, Canada or abroad, an educational institution, an employer, a financial institution, an organization specialized in background checks in order to assess and verify the truthfulness of the content of your statements: identifying information, family and social information, educational information, financial information and judicial information.

The following information may be communicated to a public body of Québec, Canada or abroad, or to an educational institution in order to inform them of a decision made with respect to them: Last name, first name, date of birth, country of citizenship, name of educational institution, level of studies, program of study, type of decision rendered, date of decision, file number, Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) number, CAQ start date, CAQ end date.

If you reside in the European Union, you have the right to be informed of the moment at which your personal information will be communicated for the first time to another recipient. In this respect, we inform you that this information may be communicated electronically during the examination of your application or following a decision rendered after the examination of your application.

Consequences of your refusal to respond to the request

If you refuse to respond to this mandatory request for the collection, use and communication of personal information, you will not be able to submit this application.

You can ask that the processing of your application for temporary selection for studies be terminated at any time. This request will nevertheless lead to a decision before the termination of your file.

Your personal information many nevertheless be used, communicated or kept for other purposes in accordance with applicable laws. It will then be destroyed according to our data retention schedule.

Consequences of withdrawal of consent

Note that if you consented as the person holding parental authority or as the tutor to the collection, use and communication of personal information on behalf of a minor under 14 years of age who is the subject of this application, considering that this request is mandatory, it will not be possible for you to withdraw your consent.

Your rights regarding your personal information

You have the right to be informed of the personal information we hold about you, to have it transmitted to you and to request its correction.

If you are in the European Union, you have the right to oppose or restrict the processing of your personal information. To exercise these rights, you must contact the person responsible for access to documents and protection of personal information at the Ministère. If you think that the use of your personal information is not in compliance with the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, you can file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
